    Green Roofs.

Was reading the local newspaper at work the other day during lunch,
& spotted this small column tucked away inside.

    Roof project is a grower.
Kindergarten children will witness the growth of Boroondara's first green roof project as the Minifie Park Childcare Centre in Balwyn North reopens from this week.
The $3.5 million project - featuring 450 sq m. of roof with vegetation growing on top - is set to be one of the larger urban green roofs in Australia, with more than 5500 plants.

They didn't show any pics in the paper, & the centre doesn't appear to have a website up featuring any of it ?
But I'll try to swing past sometime in the next few weeks & take some pics (& gather any further info about who built / designed it etc if possible).
    Cheers,
    Shane.

3.5 MILLION? Wonder what the plants are... I guess we'd need to know what the project goals are and how it was done. e.g. was this a new 3.5 million building and they just happened to add plants on the roof?

I presently don't know anymore about the project than what I originally posted above.
But that small article is enough to fuel my interest, so I'll make a detour on the way home sooner rather than later to have a look & learn a little more about it.

I just need to find a day when I can leave work before nightfall first.
    Cheers,
    Shane.
