I'm logged in at the time - can you even make a post without being logged in? Basically the thread is there, I enter it, make a post and go back to New Posts and it isn't there anymore. When someone else posts it then becomes visible.

I am presuming the forum software decides that if I am the last poster it isn't a New Post for me. It would probably be a flag on the thread with my ID listed or something - most recent poster doesn't see this as a New Post.

Mind you it may be fixed - I just went to a new tab to look at New Posts and I can see my last two posts listed...

Re: Julian Assange - hero or villain?

    Hi,

When I just posted, the same thing happened to me. I clicked on the "What's New?" button and I could see two other posts but not this one. At other times, I can see my most recent post in the "What's New?" view.

I can't explain......except to say that, if I was setting up a forum again tomorrow, I'd probably give vBulletin a miss. vB4.0 was the buggiest bit of software that I've ever encountered.

When I have more time (and stomach lining) I'll search for an alternative. Changing forum software (and having all of the images remain where they should) can be a bugger of job - and not one that I'd enter into lightly.

Having said that, I'd welcome advice and suggestions from people who have experience of setting up forum software. Anyone?

The English side of the process is now almost over: there is a valid European Arrest Warrant which has to be enforced as a matter of international law. ...............................................?

Legal myths about the Assange extradition

    Hi,

It's getting hard to stay across all of the issues.....and the truth.

On balance, however, I'm more likely to believe Assange than the various governments that have a hand in all of this.

    Hi

Governments like America and Australia have been lying to their citizens for as long as I can remember, even commiting them to wars. The established news media mainly goes along with these lies. Julian Assange has been keeping the public better informed and that can only be a good thing.

I think Ande's link addressed all of the steps and challenges the very qualified Assange legal team has gone through. It is very easy to make blanket statements such as "gov'ts lie" or there is too much confusing information out there. Due process, involving several legal systems and qualified representation seems to be running it's course.

The fact is Assange will always remain a "Robin Hood" character to many, regardless of the outcome. He committed crimes in Australia, which seem to have been forgotten or at least forgiven. It seems in the current issue he's been forgiven before he's even been tried. If the courts do find him to be guilty and a criminal, I wouldn't be surprised if he actually gained support and popularity as a result.

    Hi,

It seems that the worst crime that Assange has committed (and the one that has really irritated the politicians) is that he exposed their hypocrisy when it comes to diplomatic relations. In particular, he published documents where world leaders (including Hilary Clinton) had some really slimy things to say about their contemporaries in other countries.

The fact is that he embarrassed them.....and most of these people take themselves very seriously. Some of them subsequently called for him to tried and sentenced to death - a somewhat interesting slant on their perspective on the "innocent until proven guilty" thing.

If anyone imagines that the world-wide interest in seeing Assange get extradited to Sweden has anything to do with minor sex charges, I respectfully suggest that they are naive.

Congratulations to Ecuador.....for taking a principled stand on the matter.

It is very easy to make blanket statements such as "gov'ts lie" or there is too much confusing information out there.
It's easy because they get caught doing just that....so frequently.

Also, our own government has demonstrated an unfortunate tendency to bend over for Uncle Sam where our citizens are involved. Assange is just the latest such case. Remember David Hicks?

The only way we keep the power-mongers on the straight and narrow is to expose their every slimy act. Just one of the traits that they share with rats and cockroaches is that they don't like the light.

I'm in no way suportiv nor fond of Guantanamo.

How ever I have a problem to see that a mercenary (David Hicks armed combatant in Kosovo/Afganistan),can be compared with Julian Asange other than he is wanted by the US.

Also I don't see rape as "minor sex charges" dosen't matter if you are Robin Hood or any other person.

    cheers
