It depends whats in the pond that you are placing the fingerlings? if there is nothing go for it now. As long as the water is warm enough. Otherwise you will need to wait until they are no longer instant fish food.

I'am going to put them in a cage that has one eight inch plastic screen. I just wondered about their age, but then if they were breeders in there already and spawned. Water is in the seventy's.
If they are already breeding then No problem place them in the cage.
