Mossambiques due to only species not regulated in my local without jumping through hoops.
If and when I feel like messing with the paperwork involved I would buy the white niles from Kellen due to all the praise they have received on other boards I have read , though my mossies have performed well for me and can't really complain other than to get a decent fillet I have to get them to 2 pounds.

I saw those but they are out of them at this point.
Hi Oswego,
We should have some White Brook White Niles available in about a month. Our commercial contract buyers have been gobbling up all of our White Nile production, but we are bringing more production capacity online. Sorry, they are a bit of a victim of their own popularity.
As far as my own choice in tilapia strains go...
I personally would choose a quality Nile based production strain, based on my growing conditions, location and state regulations (I can keep any tilapia strain I want in a closed loop system here, so I'd essentially opt for the fastest growing). Our White Brook White Niles and Red Niles are two very good choices in that regard. Some states and localities place restrictions on tilapia and what strains you can keep. If in a Mozambique only state, I'd go with our Hawaiian Golds, an extremely fast growing Mozambique strain we developed. There are other places where only Blue Tilapia are allowed. We maintain a very high quality pure Blue strain as well. Blues are known for having superior cold tolerance compared to most other tilapia species, but this is largely over-hyped marketing and not entirely accurate, as cold tolerance varies from strain to strain, depending on the breeder's selection criteria. For instance, our White Brook White Niles have very similar cold tolerance to typical Blues, yet outpace them in growth, even in cooler temps.
Hope that helped.

The fact that the commercial guys are buying them speaks for itself.
If it were me I would buy white or blue Tilapia for the area you live. Kellenw has great stock. Better to get stock from a known supplier than a stranger.
