    Saved a Life

I had an interesting day yesterday.

Driving back from moving fish about in one of our systems. A great thing to be doing on a Sunday, last week of the holidays! Why I was not fishing has me buggered.

Anyway, on the drive back, just about home, we saw a chap laying on the road in the intersection.

We pulled up across the section so no one would run over him. He was having a fit and choking on his own spit.

Pulled out the good old First Aide from years ago and sorted him out, called the Ambos and he got choofed off to hospital.

Poor bugger is an epileptic. Imagine just dropping on the ground in the middle of the road and if no one comes along you stand the chance of dying.

I cannot imagine living like that. Anyway he will go on to have another beer!

    Well done Paul,
My youngest Son suffered from seizures for a couple of years....then gradually just stopped having them.
Glad you were in the position to help the fellow out.
    Cheers,
    Shane.

    Good on you, Paul.

Many people in America would have just past on by. As there is always a chance of being sued, by the victim after you attempt to help. crazy world we live in.
That's increasingly the case in Australia, too.

Many years ago, I came across a man who began to stagger and then fell to the ground. It was a crowded street and people just walked around him as though he wasn't there. I think many of them assumed him to be drunk.

When I rolled him over, he was suffering a seizure, too. As it was, he was on the footpath so he wasn't going to get run over by a car......but ignoring his plight was still an appalling way to treat a sick person. People who experience epileptic seizures suffer embarrassment in normal circumstances......and much more so when they discover that they are confused for drunks or drug addicts.

    Thanks guys.

Bit of a concern, because the ambo told me to go and get hep and other fun blood tests because I had his blood on my hands and a few scratches.......

But it is all a good thing.

And from what I understand, you can get into a lot more trouble with the law if it is found you did ignore.. I believe we still have an obligation to help sick injured and dying people...

Regardless of any obligation, I'd still help where I could.....

    Cheers.
