Hi,
As evidence of the fact that I'm just another insensitive male (in terms of the timing of this post), I have to concede that arguably my most useful aquaponics aid is my partner Jan. She's the one who most often checks and feeds our fish......and she plants seedlings, harvests our produce and is our major IPM (integrated pest management) strategy......while I'm off doing important stuff like.....thinking.
Thanks Bear!

Hi,
Has anyone mentioned the humble blue drum (or barrel as our US mates call it)?
They feature in many systems......as fish tanks, grow beds/tanks and filtration components.
They'll take their place in the history of aquaponics due to the efforts of people like Travis Hughey and his Barrelponics designs.....and the thousands of other people who have used them.

I am a fan now of the Uniseal and my lovely ratchet PVC pipe cutters. Love airlifts. Have none up and running yet but have experimented in the pool a bit with a spare air pump..... just like the concept.
My area was buffetted by two strong wind fronts (yesterday & overnight), with gusts overnight up to 140 Kph.
Lost electrical power at my place 5 times during this time (for relatively short periods - not extended).
Its times like this, when you wake at night and hear the reassuring hum in the background of your back up AP battery units powering the systems along.... that you just breath a small sigh of relief.
A back up power system for your Aquaponics.....indispensible !
Cheers,
Shane.
