    Smile tandanus tandanus (catfish)

    Hi everyone!

Has anybody had any experience growing out eel tailed catfish?

Any comments or thoughts that you might have would be GREATLY appreciated. They sound like a great eating fish but not too much information on growth rates etc seems to be available.

    Thanks very much!!!!

    Hi Smallworld,

They grow slowly. Most people keep one or two of them in a fish tank in the interests of keep the tank clean - they eat algae and the like off of the tank sides.....and they'll clean up feed left by other species.

They are said to be excellent eating......but I've not tried them.

    g'day

I also have tandanus cat fish at the moment. So far mine are about 25 cm long, and I have had them for about 2 years. But I haven't been forcing the feed into them either.

I'm in a similar situation Kenners,
My Tandans (batch 1) range in size from approx 30cms down to the runts which are tad over 20cm....I've had them 2yrs & 3 mths now.
They'll need another summer yet before hitting the BBQ.

Batch 2 are less than 1/2 the size of batch 1...I've those ones for a year less.

Whereabouts in Melbourne are you Kenners?
    Cheers,
    Shane.

Awesome Guys, Firstly i would like to THANK Gary for taking the time to be helpfull & answer my post. I have recently left another AP group as I consistently felt like I was being ignored (I get the feeling it was because I didnt buy his products) & still waiting for a reply from a sales inquiry email I sent back in January. I like to feel special hahaha and I hate being ignored, doesnt everyone.
