    Well i built it and it seems to work

    Hi folks , Well thanks TO Ian's Advice (Bunya Boy) and all that the forms offer.

    The auto siphon were a pain in bum , but i got it going . Got 50 jade perch and they seem to be happy , 2 days in and no deaths . I used a submergible pump with a stocking over the inlet this can be removed for cleaning (hosing off )

    I use a venturi system for adding air to the system an the 6 grow beds feed back in to the tank and all so add oxygen . The grow beds are 160 L cut in half with a 10 mm merry river stone , cycled for 10 weeks than added seeds and then fish , I ran the system with river fish and then added the Jade Perch. The tank is old milk vat 2000L it hovers around the 26 to 28 deg mark.

    I dont have any kits yet to test the water quality apart from PH tests. I planted lots of seeds thinking that only some would germinate but they all did but you get that , these photo are one week of growth , and looking good .

    I have taken a photo of the fish but when i turn the pump off they run for cover . i would like to thank Ian's Advice (Bunya Boy) and all that the forms offer.

    Looks good Drew. The second picture down - are they your stocks of old IBC's for future Grow Beds? You're gonna need some. Should get a lot of interest from people passing by as they see the plants grow.

    Drew;
    Wow, I'm impressed! At least you didn't procrastinate like I'm doing,. . just got stuck in and got it going. (I'm still only a "theorist", but getting there)
    That's really great to see. I'm really chuffed if I have provided any advice or anything that is practically usefull: thanks for the thanks.

    Now, get your self a fresh water test kit as soon as you can. . Murray sells them for less than most other outlets and you are getting the one that he uses, so it must be fit for purpose.
    Just to let you know, I took delivery of my (www.peopleinplastic.com.au) Megabin Fish tank yesterday (Garry D used some at his place to start with) and have it proudly sitting in the middle of my courtyard . . just looking at it almost gives me the motivation to do something about it this week-end.

    I will ask Murray if I can start a thread on the planning, construction and operation of my system to let you all know that I have turned the corner and put theory into practice. Good luck with your system Drew and may all your efforts bear Fruit . . .and Fish. . . and vegies

    Cheers IanK
    If you don't break the rules . . . there would be no such thing as innovation!
