    Greg's First System

I discovered the world of Aquaponics about a year ago on the web. I've learnt alot by reading through what has and hasn't worked for the members of this forum. I purchased my first system in January this year from Murray.

I purchased a 1250L balcony kit with one grow bed, Murray told me that people who had bought this, generally expand their system, and I will be no exception as already my wife & I want more plants.

I planted out the growbed in mid January with corn, capsicum, cos lettuce, zucchini, squash & cucumber. We purchased 70 jade perch fingerlings from SEQ Fish in mid February and they are eating like our rottweiler (LOL) and growing exceptionally well.

Harvested our first lettuce leaves yesterday and they tasted great!

We are surprised at how quickly the plants are growing. Although I think the corn is taking a bit of a battering. The capsicums have flowered and one already has fruit, it's funny as its nearly as big as the plant.

    I've attached a couple of photos showing our progress - Weeks 1 & 4.

    Cheers Greg

Hi Greg - Judging by the photo of your backyard - you have plenty of space left over for a polytunnel and a few more growbeds

You're going to need some more Grow Beds. Or more ramps! Looks terrific though. I've just planted some cucumbers in my system. I'd be curious to see how they went in your system? Is that them running down the timber ramps?

Yes i do need more grow beds, i'm working on that aswell as a sump. The cucumber vines are running down the timber ok, with the weight of the vine and the fruit they dont have a choice. i have 3 cucumber vines in that system.
