    Sprinklers over GB's

Was thinking of setting up some sprinklers or misters on a timer for where the GB's are. Mainly for the pot plants that are scattered around the place that I sometimes forget to water.
Was also interested if anyone had thought of flushing the plants to displace salts around the root zone. Also for insect control or seedling starting.

Why would there be salts in the bottom of the grow bed ?
Is that what you mean ?

Was thinking that the problem some people have with strawberries in there system might be a build up of salt in there root zone. Because of the flood and drain over time salt could be building up on the roots. Explains why the plants do well to start with. The fish like salt in the water and a lot of the plants seem to go well. But the wet dry cycle in a gb might get a build up of salt over time. Just was wondering if a little water from above would help. I know for insect control rain is great in removing eggs from plants.

It might be helpful. I would be worried about wasting water. I just don't have any water to spare.

The water that goes onto the GB's will end up in the system. Like toping up but the spraying will help gas off the chlorine.

    Hi,

Sounds like a good idea.....however, for as much as rain might wash insect eggs from plants, water on foliage creates other issues. Some gardening experts recommend irrigating plants at their base for this reason.

Hi Duff, I think we will have an advantage with the aid of misters out this way because we have such dry heat nothing like the humid weather of brisbane and the coasts.

I like the weather out this way. Can get humid sometimes.
