Hello All-

I've not begun my first system yet and was hoping to get some very basic questions answered. First, how does the siphon not suck up fingerlings? Second, roughly how many catfish could I raise to harvestable size in a 200 gallon plastic tub? When can I start the system in my *unheated* garage, in Knoxville (East) Tennessee?

It depends on the size but get enough filtration and probably fifty. Being in Tenn you should be able to start now.
