Hello,
My name is Brendan and I live in Ti Tree , NT just 200ks North of Alice Springs on the Stuart HWY. We have a climate which is very hot in summer and very cold in winters (especially night and morning). I have some ideas for setting up my aquaponics venture at home under my car port, once i fully enclose it with shadecloth and a gate. I have just bought my kids a cheap above ground pool one as my fish tank. It is the inflatable type that yhou get at kmart on on the web. I have had previous experience in Hydroponics with mixed results and still have the grow beds and benchs etc. Basically I would like to grow Barra over the warmer period and Trout over the cooler period, mainly so I have barra and trout to eat for my family and if im lucky I could even give some away to friends. But also the vegetable side of it. As you probably understand there is no supermarket here and the closest one is 2 hours drive to Alice, we do go in every fortnight or so, but to have fresh veges and Fish what a bonus, plus I think the kids would love it, also who else in the Red Centre has there own barra tanks ? So hopefully I would have a neiche market. Anyway I think we are 2 far into the warmer months to start up barra now basically because I dont have the system set up yet, But I plan to get the water in the tanks and the veges growing in the clay balls on the trays and run the system properly to make sure I can keep the tanks clean and everything runs prop before I try to get some Trout to put in right at the start of the cooler weather. Any way nice to meet you all, have read some great stuff on this forum, and I really like Outbackozzies system in Kal at least someone else in the outback has decided to take this aquaponics thing on and with great success, love your work.

It is also good to have these to look back on for your own records. I have gone back through my own thread to see the progress and it is really interesting to see how much I have learned from everyones input.
