I'm rethinking the layout... I got 2 more 115 gallon reservoirs and 2 100gph pumps. Instead of the 12 botanicare growbeds I'm using the 6 I have and 5 of these that Gary pointed out. That should make 1,690g of gb to 1,100g of ft. Still got a ways to go...

    Hi ET,

That should make 1,690g of gb to 1,100g of ft. Still got a ways to go...
Don't be too concerned about trying to meet the 1:2 fish tank volume/grow bed volume ratio (assuming that's what prompts your "still got a ways to go" comment. Your system is still capable of producing more fish than you'll be able to eat......given its overall size.

If you incorporate some simple solids removal devices, you'll make it even more productive and resilient.

Good to know, I think I'll just stick with those figures and go with additional filtration. By the way, thanks for dropping this little nugget on the LEAP thread...

The easiest way to clean them is to use a water lance.....poking it into the gravel media.....to dislodge any sediment which can be flushed from the system.
Much better than what I was envisioning

    Hi ellistatto

The system you describe sounds great. Looking forward to seeing photos and your progress. I am sure you will have fun.

Starting to learn google sketchup. This is a rough layout of what I'm going to build. The greenhouse dimensions are 24'x36'. Still have a ways to go as far as designing the system and learning sketchup. Just thought I'd post up my "progress"...

    Re: ellistattoo's first AP setup

RS_-I'm not sure yet, that's why I haven't put one in. The fish tank will be a 1,100 gallon water storage tank from TSC, I guess I could use a buried stock tank for the sump. Btw, I am MORE than receptive to suggestions...
