    Hi,

I agree with what Paul is saying about second hand pumps (and particularly those that have been used in salty environments) but the biggest issue here is that any of those pumps would probably have a much larger capacity than anything you'd normally need in a backyard environment......and therefore would cost too much to run (relative to the size of the system).

    thankyou all for your input
yes i am going to forget them,i have a 3500 litre tank to filter so i thought maybe bigger set up would cater for my needs.
i have been looking at your mega bin set up gary ,very impressive ,what size pump dose the mega bin require,i imagine i would need something similar.
i am thinking of not even using my fish tank,it is a clark rubber steel framed pool,2mx 3m. liked it because it was 240 dollars.had an idea of screeding the base with sand to get some fall in it so i can gather the solids from the bottom.
how tall are the mega bins??

    Hi Sam,

The mega bins are 780mm high (outside height) and 680mm deep.

The 3 Mega Bin system ran on a 4500 litre per hours pump. We're using the same size pump on the Combo system.....which will eventually have at least one more tank attached to it......and possibly even two more tanks.
