    $10 filter

I dont know if anyone saw these pics in another of my threads so i thought i would post here to show a very cheap filter from my local tip shop.I pulled out the filter bars and filled with pillow stuffing.the difference in the water colour is over a 2 hour period.there should be plenty of these filters about as they are being banned soon due to the carconegenic properties of the stuff they used as the filter medium.

Hi Brett - is it an old pool or spa filter?

Hello Hamish,I was told it came off a pool but it also would do the job on a spa for sure. The only THING WITH THE FILTER IS YOU NEED QUITE A BIG PUMP TO RUN IT ,IT MAY NOT BE SUITED TO SMALLER SYSTEMS.bye Brett

Hi Hamish,I ran the filter for a couple of hours yesterday arvo with 0 filtration,I then addded 1 litre of the cationic polymers and left until i could see the bottom of the ft,about 2 hours,I ran the filter once again and had crystal clear water within the hour,i had to agitate the sediment on the bottom of the ft so the pump could pick it up.I will repeat this every saturday and should have perfect water soon.Have a good weekend.Bye Brett

I also have a filter like that and i find if you are leaving it for a week you have to wash and dry it or the first lot of water realy stinks and takes a long time to go best to run for 10 min twice a day
If its free pick it up

Hi Fishfood, you are on the money about the smell. After use I take the filter material out and rinse thoroughly,I only do it once a week as my ball valves on my water spreaders are so damn tempremental i am adjusting them for the rest of the week to get the right flow again,so i dissconect the filter during the week when i am at work,no nasty suprises that way when i get home.
    bye Brett
