Please help.My catfish are eating one another!

    Hi
I have two month old catfish (Clarias gariepinus). I notice that once in a while maybe every two to three days- some of the fish pick at the skin of one fishThey start picking(eating) from the side.

The patch of skin continues to get eaten and grows then one day I just see the head of that fish floating.

At other times instead of starting to eat the live fish from the side the other fish start eating the selected fish from the tail.

What can I do to prevent my fish from eating one another?

    Hi.

I don't know how it works with African Catfish but, with our native carnivores, the solution to cannibalism is to crowd them up so that they are virtually in each others' faces. Also, some species should be graded to separate the small ones from the large ones......since they'll eat anything that's big enough to fit in their mouths.

In the case of barramundi, that extends to eating any fish which is less than 2/3 their own size.

You might need to grade them.

That's one of the reason I decide to not growing Catfish.
    They are cannibals.
