    Our Huge Greenhouse

    Hi,

Jan has had a window greenhouse installed in our kitchen.....as part of the reno that she did recently.

It measures 1300mm wide by 1100mm high and is 300mm deep.

Jan has planted the mini-greenhouse out to a variety of kitchen herbs. It's good to be able to pick fresh herbs about six feet from the cooktop. I took the second photo this morning so you can see the herb growth that has occurred.

    Hi,

The window greenhouse continues to exceed our expectations. The chilli plant in the round pot has outgrown the available space and has now been moved outside.

Being over the kitchen sink (and facing into the morning sun), the little structure is easy to water and it provides a steady supply of fresh herbs on demand.

    Hi Sen,

It's the second such window greenhouse we've had. We had one installed in a previous house about twenty years ago.

They are expensive growing space but, since you need the window anyway, being able to grow fresh herbs within reach of the cutting board is a nice bonus.

In Asia we all have window grates, so placing anything in a window is impossible. other wise there is a risk of a security breach and some petty thief will be wondering around your home.

    Hi Pugo,

This window is about twelve feet from the ground......and we have two Maltese terriers in the house.......so security is a bit less of an issue for us.
