    Re: World Aquaponics Association

    Hi

Can someone please explain the anomalies in the advertising Mr Hallam is doing for his upcoming super duper course at Greenbank.

First a direct lift from his sales page reads:

    Aquaponics for Profit .
    The Complete Course
This training event will carry world first training information, the very latest in commercial Aquaponics knowledge.

Are you ready to join the farming revolution?.

Press the "Buy Now" button to part with a few measly dollars and it comes up with this:

Aquaponics FloMedia - 4 Day Farm Workshop - Brisbane -
Please reserve my place at the Practical Aquaponics FloMedia 4 day training program . Designed specifically for the small scale Aquaponics farm.

What the heck is this guy trying to sell for $1200+? Information that is readily available free from any Aquaponics forum in the world, thats what! ( geez Mabel if we only get 10 people, we can make $12k less costs here)

If you guys out there have huge amonts of money to throw away, pm me , I'll send you my bank account details and you can then make a donation to the cause( we can buy a few goats for underpriveldged third world people) and I will undertake to reseach and feedback from my list of reputable and knowledgeable contacts the answers to your questions?

Just think, no 4 days of flat bums, no travel expenses, no sleeping in strange beds, and yet you will still get your questions answered. Of course you will miss out on a great field trip to a fish hatchery but you can just call them and they will show you around anyway.

Sorry to bore you all, but its an overcast, rainy day here. not much else to do but ponder the question "WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON HERE" can anyone out there help?

    mortys,

im with chip here... who are you to question anyone? you show up here 4 days ago, you welcome new members the day of your sign up, and really have nothing nice to say about any aspect of anything? nothing you've written has been promotional in any way shape or form. yes i have slung some mud in the past here, but i've been a constructive member as well.

im just trying to figure out how you can have such an opinionated view against someone whose name you don't even fully know? have you dealt with these people personally? and if so how? what's your background in aquaculture and aquaponics? its just strange to have someone pop up out of the blue with such harsh views against just about everything without sharing why they should have those views. after all opinions are opinions, and just like a**holes, everybody's got one... but really you should have some reason for having an opinion in the first place... so please, share with all of us your story so we can better understand why you have such a grudge against these people?

Let's get one thing straight. I make an actual living in the aquaculture and fisheries industry. I've been doing so since before you were even born. You did an extended internship at a second rate failed attempt of a commercial aquaponics operation [that got busted for growing pot no less and I believe it was on your watch] and for some reason you brag about it like you some how have this amazingly vast knowledge of... well.... everything it appears.

If you would take just a few minutes to look back at all of your posts and the replies given by some very smart people you would realize how very little you know and also how incredibly silly you are making yourself look.

Just as a simple example, you continued to work at a place for 6 months without getting paid and you want to argue logic with other people?

you show up here 4 days ago, you welcome new members the day of your sign up,
Now what the heck does that have to do with.... um... well.... anything?

and really have nothing nice to say about any aspect of anything?
Not that it's any of your business but I had a few very nice private message conversations with several people on this site in the last several days.

That notwithstanding I apologize the nature of my posts have not met your highly qualified standards.

I will say some nice things in my posts from this point forward.

nothing you've written has been promotional in any way shape or form.
Now we may be getting some where Damon. You see I am not here to promote anything. The members of this forum and others you post to clearly realize you are trying to promote yourself. I am starting to see now. Thank you for providing that important distinction.

yes i have slung some mud in the past here,
    Yes you certainly have.

but i've been a constructive member as well.
That arm getting sore from patting yourself on the back yet?

im just trying to figure out how you can have such an opinionated view against someone whose name you don't even fully know?
While you are trying to figure it out I'll let you in on a little secret. When you work in the industry you often meet people, exchange ideas and share information about others in the industry. Reputation is an enormous aspect of being successful in this field. Sometimes you even bump into people at association meetings and attend seminars.

You have already made it clear that you are not really involved in the industry, so I understand how this concept would be foreign to you.

have you dealt with these people personally? and if so how?
Matter of fact, I have dealt directly with one of the three mentioned. I cleaned up a mess caused by terrible consultation by another. The remaining third one I've read enough of their completely false statements to last me a life time.

Since you have such strong opinions on their greatness please share with me your experience dealing with them. Since it follows your logic that you should have dealt with someone in order to have an opinion of them or an opinion on the accuracy of their information I would assume that you have actually dealt with them in order to gain this opinion as well. Is that so?

what's your background in aquaculture and aquaponics?
As mentioned previously... I'm a third generation fish farmer. I have 12 years of hydroponics experience and about 6 years of aquaponics experience not counting the 30 years of growing ornamental aquatic plants in the fish farm effluents. It's how I make a living

What's your experience again? How are you currently making a living?

its just strange to have someone pop up out of the blue with such harsh views against just about everything without sharing why they should have those views.
I technically don't owe you an explanation for my opinions. They're mine. I do think I and a large and growing number of people have given you plenty of reasons why we have them on this subject though... and in contrast to your reasons mine are actually cogent.

after all opinions are opinions, and just like a**holes, everybody's got one... but really you should have some reason for having an opinion in the first place...
Why do you think someone needs a reason to point out incorrect information? Isn't pointing it out reason enough? Some people like information to be factual. It's not a complex issue.

so please, share with all of us your story so we can better understand why you have such a grudge against these people?
I think I've shared enough and don't put words in my mouth. I don't have a grudge against anyone. I just prefer people to be truthful, factual and honest when they are trying to put a face on an industry I've been involved with my entire life and depend on for my livelihood. I especially prefer they have real experience in the field before they try describing and even teaching it to others. These are simple requests and I don't feel they are unreasonable. Do you?

It's sad to see the depths some people will stoop to just to make a little money.

In a few years these people will likely be forgotten but the innocent victims of their scams will have already paid for their pathetic behavior.

The truth is.... This website is the only one where people are really allowed to tell the truth about this stuff. The rest are all either run by or connected to these con artists. It's a fact.

Well what is the thrut ? I really think there is some good posts/posters on many websites.
How and whom are allowed to post is a different matter, also, what can be adressed, without being bashed. IMO

This is also a way to put things and voice your opinion, might be funy as a 1timer, but iff it's a standard
and moderators/admins/worshipers are the main contributers, you atract bullys and put off most normal people.

I received an interview/advertisement with Murray and Sylvia talking about the upcoming training via his blog. I can copy and paste it if anyone is interested.

    Hi Todd,

Thanks for the information. Since it's about the upcoming commercial courses, I've moved it to this thread.
