I tried growing a few in a 20 gallon tank with lots of plants and stuff for them to hide in. Still too small. I started with a few and now only have 1 left, which now resides in my 3x8 raft system.

Hi!
Any updates on this? I am considering a set up of a micro-hatchery geared for serving small rural farmers.
I think Madodel has information on that.. And he is Pinoy too!
All system tests are now recorded at http://aquaponics.scorched-revolution.com/ So if you are interested in my system tests. go there
Hi Qommunity, if you have source of both freshwater and brackish water, you may be able to set-up a microhatchery. Freshwater prawns grow in freshwater, but when they breed, the hatch-lings will live for a certain amount of time in brackish water then go up river back to freshwater.
Just recently acquired a few prawns, one female already berried.
Lost the fry last week, they just died between 3AM and 9AM of the 3rd day from hatching. Am not sure if it is due to the rains (the temp went down to 21degrees C) or I am using the wrong salt mix.
Still at the learning stage... (sigh).
