Intend on next moon to start profitable lettuce production.
Both FP and GB, in ground, relined 1 mo. ago. Simi-continuous system. Water, bacteria, 6 mo. old. Electricity is high, US .25/kWh, only running pump at night, to compensate for excess start-up algae consuming oxygen then. GB 9’x30’x1’ deep, raft sys.
Have ~200 red tilapia, 1 to 8 mo old, their strong fish, hard to kill, I’ve challenged that.
Previous version of system had trouble getting lettuce growing on, I think nutes, pH, temperature not right, hope I’ve addressed that. Using HCL to pull down pH, rain, tap come at ~8
My instruments, material availability and budget, is very limited.
We’re coming to the end of an extended dry [hot] season.
Have committed buyer at good $.
I’ve made it work on start-up experimental system, now I need to go into production, having trouble with transition. Ideas? Pete
