Thread: Silver Perch availability in Western Oz.

Silver Perch availability in Western Oz.

Posted this on the other forum as well, offer is open.

If we can organise a group purchase, Jurien Bay fish farm will go into a new pond for us and get 75mm - 120mm Perch.

We need at least $500 worth of fish for this to happen. The more that can be brought at once, the cheaper they get.

They will be around the $2 to $2.50 per fish, which in my opinion is excellent value, they will have a lot higher survival rate, and they will grow a lot more rapidly than the smaller fingerlings.

Post your requirements / wants in the thread below, I will be able to deliver the fish from Jurien Bay on my way back to Kalgoorlie. I will be able to bring around 750 - 1000 fish to Perth if required.

It would be easiest if people could meet at the bottom of the hills on the Great Eastern Highway. Silvers travel very well in a large bucket (20 litre or more).

Ill start the ball rolling with $400 of fish for myself.

Is that Arcadia Aquaculture? If so do you know that they are still on the market? I have a few photos of these guys operation when they were on the market I think around Jan 2007.

Sorry I cant help you with an order at the moment I am looking for a fish with a bit more sustainability like Tilapia or something similar. These guys have Murray cod so why the choice of Silver Perch?

    Hi,

Murray Cod will grow out much faster than silver perch and having eaten both, I'd opt for the Murray cod.

Silver perch are more tolerant of indifferent water quality and they don't spend as much time snacking on their siblings as Murray cod do.

Wow, so no one here wants any perch

Ill try murray cod once I get the expansion done, this will provide me with a lot more extra seperate tank space.

Seperate tanks for marron, yabbies, cod, silvers, bream, trout, mussles, goldfish. Did I miss any?

Oh well, the order is up to 700 odd fish so far

Its a very generous offer OBO. Seems people have gone off Silvers a bit. I have no experience with them but so far their Jade cousins are performing like little troopers in my system. So more expansion for your system eh?
