What fish won't try and eat others?

Time for a Stupid Question, Before adding Goldfish to my pond I thought about adding an eating fish but the Wife was against it ( even though she loves eating Fish ) because she said she couldn't eat a pet fish we raised. Even when I said that we couldn't name every one as there would be hundreds she wasn't kean on the idea so I just stuck with the Goldfish. Now after looking at some of the photos here I wish I'd gone the other way. Is there a fish that would still live amongst the goldfish without eating them for dinner? ( I'll tell the wife their un-coloured Goldfish!!! )

yeah siver and jades perch will both live happily with goldfish. I have 8 large goldies in my tank with my silver perch. They add a bit of pretty to the fish side. If you add goldies and fingerling silvers together than they will gro happily together and when you harvest the silvers the goldies maintain the ammonia production and are then far too big for any of te new silvers, following restocking, to even get close to eating.

Any way I would definately give it a go, if you do not tell her she will not know,

I also have 7 gold fish in my tank with the 120 odd Jade Perch - they all seem pretty happy together.

You might find the silver or Jades eat and fry from the goldfish if they are breeding though.

I have a single half kilo barra, can I mix him in with other fish? And down to what size? say 200 - 300 grm Tiliapia?

The barra will harass the tilapia to death most likely.

Trout live ok with larger goldies as well - they do a bit of chasing occasionally, but if the trout are kept well fed, they are a lot more docile.

Trout and small Silver perch = Bad.
    Barra and anything = Bad.

    Hi,

I'm with you OBO......I foreshadow that the Barra will be snacking on the tilapia soon.

Barramundi eat each other if you are not careful to grade them regularly.
