.....and it doesn't need to grow cotton for exactly the same reason.

The Murray/Darling river systems have been the big loser in the decision to encourage the production of rice and cotton in Australia.

There is nothing wrong with dry land rice. Buy rice from Asia, buy cotton from Egypt.

Our Govs do incredibility stupid things. They have just legislated to abandon the single desk for wheat sales even though 80% of wheat farmers are against it. Now individual farmers or small collectives will be trying to sell against single desks like the Canadian wheat board.

Another thing is our insistence on sticking to these destructive free trade agreements. This week we see Good Year closing down. Try and buy a shirt not made in China. Our textile industry is on the rocks due to tariffs being dropped.
Pity is the shirts we get here made in China are not all that cheap. After the big stores like Target etc buy the shirt for 3.00 from the sweat shop in China then sell it to us for 39.00
So the end result is Aussue jobs are lost......forever. And our ability to take care of ourselves as a Nation.

Eat Both! Rice and fish and mulberries were tradiotionally raised together. Thats how we got goldfish, they chose to keep the lightest coloured carp for breeding as they were easiest to see in the muddy paddy fields, thus easiest to harvest!
