I thought I would put a photo up of one of my bamboo plantings.
The variety is Bambusa Oldhamii.
It makes a very nice very tall hedge. Excellent if you need to block out the neighbors. It will grow to above 3 mtrs tall in a couple of years.
There are thousands of uses for bamboo. Avery versatile plant species.

This is a clumping variety and will not spread.

If you wish to have a dense hedge then need to plant them 2 mtrs apart in a line.
Likes some fertiliser and moderate amount of water.

Thought I should add another pix. #3
The large one in the middle is a
Bambusa textiles gracilis [Gracilis] or common name is Weavers Bamboo.
The Textiles is 7 years old and is a magnificent specimen being a full 6 mtrs tall and about 2 mtrs Dia at the base. It has thousands ov very nice slender bamboo stems. New ones can be seen coming out f the top of the clump.
To the left is
Bambusa Lako (Timor Black) It is not really suited to our climate. Every winter a frost or two knocks it rotten, but it comes back each spring. Does not look as nice as it could, but I am glad to have it anyway.
To the right are more examples of Oldhamii, and at the back of that are examples of Bambusa Wamin (Buddhas' Belly) These are regularly knocked with the frost, but keep coming back.

Pix #4 In the Oldhamii hedge. Beautiful new growth.
