Grey Water Recycler

Hi Everyone,

On a visit to my favourite irrigation shop today I spotted this device which appears to be new to the market and a well marketed outfit.

For those of you that use a washing machine four times a week but without a rainwater tank take a serious look!!!! Makes sense either way really. Note: Not for aquaponics systems and watch what detergents you use?

Would be a great way to water those fruit trees you've always wanted or maybe the herb garden or even just the lawn!!

For the aquaponic tinkerers among us, I reckon you could knock one of these up with spare parts... might have to knock off your neighbours wheelie bin though .... just kidding, imagine explaining that one!

Except for the wheely bin you can buy al the bits for 1/2 that price[yes it should be purple dosent have to be] i have had 2 running for 5 years now cost $20.00 from second hand stuff

Pretty easy to knock one together, but if you went out and purchased all new components it would cost you a couple of hundred dollars to make. As a retail product I think it is not badly priced actually.
It is a darn good idea.....every house should have one.
The Qld gov has or is just about to change laws allowing us to use our grey water.......that is really big of them......evidently it has been illegal here in Qld...talk about Gov regulating our lives.......

I agree - a pity the Gov doesn't regulate trivial things like not letting dangerous repeat offenders (rapists, pedophiles and murderers) onto the streets. My children get so angry when they see this happen, they ask "how can they be let out?" My answer " The people making the decisions don't live in the neighbourhood these people are going to be living in."
I think it would be a different story if you housed these people beside Kirribilli, or in the 'posh' areas, don't you think? Too many people who make the decisions for us are not in touch with reality.

I thought so to... I immediately sent it to a work colleague who's wife makes him bucket there grey water all across the backyard. His back is worth infinitely more than the price of $500.

Not all of us have fishfoods natural ability to create a quality solution from next to nothing!

We need all these types of products to become as common and financially accessible as possible.

This is the cheapest dirty water pump I've found so far. Warranty is not satisfactory, but the price is. How good is it, I guess I'll let you know in 12 months time.

My preferred model (while not the simplest) for greywater treatment is that of the mini-wetlands. Here's a good article on the subject here. I've been planning to do something similar (on a smaller scale).
