    Lightbulb snails

    hi ppl

i have a heap of snails in my back yard and wanted to catch em as a treet for the fish. my plan would be to pick the little buggers off my dirt garden and then flush them for a week in a contaner with some food for em. after a week i would throw a beer party for them (canister with flat beer in ) and then throw the drunk ones in with the fish the next day. the idea is that i would not want to inraduce snail poison to my fishies and if they drown in beer then they wont be in pain when i feed em to the fish after i crush the shells. i would be consernded that my fish would be affected by the beer. or get drunk any ideas ppl. (i dont want to inflict pain as i am a vegateran and altho i hate the buggers i still dont like the idea)

    thanks

    Re: snails

    Hi Zact,

If you keep the snails for a week, you can be sure that the live ones won't have any bait in them.

Don't worry about causing too much pain if you decide to skip the beer (not that that much beer is likely to hurt your fish anyway) because if your fish are like mine the snails won't be in pain (or anywhere else) for very long.

I have noticed that my Silvers and jades eat the snails, but the Sleepy Cod ignore them. There are literally hundreds in my Sleepy Cod tank working the algae off the sides of the tank, but none in the Silvers tank.....all gone.
