Anyone using Yabbies in their sump?

After reading the forum for the past couple of days and googling different terms, it seems that you can grow Yabbies and Marron (freash water crayfish) quite well in AP.

My question is, Is anyone successfully doing it in their AP sump?

I figure that since Yabbies in particular are the vaccuums of the water ways that they would do well in the sump cleaning up excess feed, washed down plant matter and maybe even fish poo.

If anyone has expirence with Yabbies OR Marron will they eat fish poo?
    Any info appreciated.

    Hi ash33,

I don't know of anyone who is growing yabbies but the folks from Friendly Aquaponics in Hawaii grow Giant Freshwater Prawns in their raft tanks.

My only concern with growing crayfish in your sump tank, and feeding them fish poop, is that there shouldn't be any poop in there.

It would be worthwhile trying some in raft tanks......if you could find a way to keep them in there.

My 3 AP yabbies died, from what i have been told they don't like nitrates over 100 mg / L .

I'm planning on putting Red Claws (cherax quadricarinatus) in my sump tank.
