Hi,
Jan and lived in Burra in South Australia.....which claims the title of "Australia's Premier Historic Mining Town".......for many years.
One of the many useful legacies of that period in our lives is that I can make Cornish pasties.....the favourite repast of Cornish miners for hundreds of years.
My pasties (pronounced parsties) contain diced rump steak, potatoes, carrot and onion..... liberally seasoned with salt and white pepper. This raw mix is wrapped into a pastry parcel and cooked in the oven.
The juices from the steak blend with the vegetables and seasoning to provide a gastronomic delight that gets attacked within seconds of coming out of the oven. Those pasties that survive the initial onslaught make for a fine lunch the following day.
