    Murky brown water

    Aloha from Beautiful Kauai!
I was wondering the best way to clean the water in my FT, just added a few more fish to my 300 gal. tank for a total of 31 from 3 to 10 inches and the water look pretty gross and can't even see the fish at the bottom I was able to see them just last week
I have a DWC system and I was thinking about some kind of vacuum to remove the poo or some kind of filter
    What you guys think?

I have found over the past few years that the best way is to put the pump in the middle of the fish tank. The pump lifts the water and poo to a 200 litre drum swirl filter where most of the solids drop to the bottom. This drum is on a stand about a metre high. From here water gravity feeds back to gravel filled growbeds and gravity flows back to fish tank where incoming water creates a bit of a swirl current to keep the solids swirling towards the pump.

I have never found the need for a sump below the level of the fish tank. I think it is better to have the pump sucking out the solids directly from the fish tank. with a good sized pump and a lot of water circulating, the fish tank water level doesn't fluctuate much. Every day or two I release the valve in the bottom of the swirl filter drum to get rid of some muck. Most of the time my water is clear.
