    Thank you
You can use corrugated cardboard.. the type thats used in political campaigns.
you cut small sections to fit on the floor of the hive. Borax goes into the thin
slots (you need to be careful not to get any on the outside), you then cover the end
with crisco or sugar. The beetles can go in but the bee's won't fit. They should last
a few months and you can replace with new ones. I haven't tried this myself but will
    do soon.

I use the aj beetle traps. I've also made my own bigger version of aj's trap
and they seem to be more effective. I'm also using vinegar and used oil in the traps
which seems to work better. I've also seen and tried chinese take-away containers
filled with small holes and a bait in the middle (a bit of honey, oil and vinegar) the
    container is painted black afterwards.

Are your hives i full sun? I hope this helps. You can have a look on http://www.beesource.com
as there are a number of discussions on this topic.

    Regards

    Re: Small Hive Beetle Trap

    G'day Gary,
I have found that the AJ Beetle traps with oil are the best. The thing I do not like with them that the end holding clips break off. If that happens and the oil pours out it kills the bees. I now clean them all in hot water and put cable ties on the ends. Maxforce Gold into Corflute strips also works but is expensive.
How did you make the larger AJ traps?
    Thank you for your reply.
