I would just like to introduce myself and ask a few questions,
I have had koi and comets for 15 years in rather a lge pond I have often thought of hydroponics and using the water from the pond but didn't know anything about it, then I saw a program on tv about aquaponics, then I saw a display at the Perth royal show on the weekend which has really made me think this can work, However the systems I saw are very expensive and there is no way I can afford even 1 of them, so I thought I would run a few ideas past you to see what you think.
I was wondering as I have lots of verandah posts all around my house could I use lge pvc pipe supported across the verandah posts to grow plants ,
I was thinking of pumping the water to the top and letting it gravity flow down 3 layers of pipe then back to the pond.
I have a bio filter in my pond will I still need that or do I pump the water strait from the pond,
I was thinking of doing the rounds of salvage yards to buy the pipe but i realize this maybe contaminated pipe and could it carry disease to the fish,
if this is out of the question, could someone give me some suggestions on how to make my own beds for the raft system as cheeply as possible,
the other alternative maybe be to line foam boxes with pond liner,
any help to get my head around all this would be great.
