Hi,
I found this small snake on the pathway to my shed.
He was the worst for wear when I came across him so I fed him to the chooks.
Anyone know what kind of snake it is?

A Heart-Headed Chookfodder
Do I win? What's the prize?
Actually, it's a White Crowned Snake (Cacophis harriettae)
Thanks Shin,
I've never seen one before. I don't know what overcame it......whether we stepped on it or the cat sorted it out.

Gary,
They are pretty common out here at Mt. Crosby, mainly find them in the mulch around the garden beds or in the compost heap. The Doberman loves playing with them, they can get a bit aggressive, but are completely harmless!
They only grow to about 350mm long and are quite a pretty little reptile; if you like reptiles that is!

If you don't break the rules . . . there would be no such thing as innovation!
Thanks Ian.
Her Serene Highness has a complete ban on all reptiles and spiders so it would have been summarily escorted off the place had it not fallen on bad times.
If the Buddhists are to be believed, I'm going to have to undergo a thousand reincarnations for the spiders that she's made me kill.

Hmm - l can quite understand why "her serene highness" has declared a total ban on things that crawl rather than walk.
I found a 2 metre brown snake in my garden last Wednesday!
Had to get the snake catchers in to deal with it. My sweetheart of a husband (who emigrated from the Uk only 3 years ago) offered to catch it. He's done that with carpet snakes in the neighbour's chook pen much to the neighbour's delight.
However when l pointed out to him that a snake of that size had enough venom to kill ALL the people in the whole blasted STREET and not just him - he conceeded defeat.
Common sense prevailed - thank goodness for smart women is what l say!!!!!!
Well - naturally it's an unbiased opinion!!!!!!!!![]()
