Hey guys has anyone ever tried keeping pheasants in their backyard?
Hi Cazador,
We've never keep them in a backyard but we've had them on a small acreage. Some species have quite a loud call so your neighbours might be an issue.
The cockerels of most pheasant breeds are very ornate.
Of all of the birds that I've ever handled, pheasants have the best power to weight ratio that I've encountered. They are very strong and if they manage to get loose they will fly straight up.......very quickly.
They can also be a handful to breed. The main farmed breed of pheasant is the Chinese Ringneck.
Having said all of that, they are very good to eat.
