Doug, All my mad aquarium friends (like BIG aquariums) tell me this the best and most economical test kit available.

It will measure pH, ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. costs approx $40 and will do over 700 tests.

    Hi,

I use a similar test kit.

They are available from a lot of aquarium shops.

    Re: Water Testing kits

Doug, a few days ago I came across an article in the Practical Hydroponics and Greenhouse magazine about a company in WA that is growing Hydroponic Lettuce for the Perth market very successfully in a location with very little water. They evidently have found it economic to clean up salty ground water for their farm use by Reverse Osmosis. I have just tried to google the article but have come up empty. I will keep looking when I feel a bit better. (got the wog and have been a bit spaced out the last few days)
The wonderful thing about aquaponics is the very small demand on your water supply compared to conventional farming, and even better than hydroponics.
So, successful aquaponic food production is the way of the future in a dry land such as ours.

    thanks again Murray.
I cannot believe the assistance available from all of you it is a credit to you all nad again many thanks.
I am looking into making the salt work for us instead of being a blite using it in some way as there are a lot of salt tollerant vegitation and also vegetables which can turn this waste product into a usefull one but as i have said before i am rushing ahead slowly. I used to hate homework but now it pays off.
