    White japanese quail

Does anyone have white japanese quail?
I have a couple, I want to see if I can get some unrelated ones to mine. We are planning to go to Brisbane within the next two months. If anyone has some they would like to sell or swap, between Rockhampton and Brisbane let me know.

I think Julie (in Brisbane) has been advertising quail in Farmstock. Not sure if she has white. http://www.farmstock.com.au/Classifieds/sale/72409.html

    Good luck

I have one white, not sure whether its a male or female yet, assuming male because of size though. If I ever hatch out any white babies, your welcome to come and pick some up as im in Gladstone, so only about a 1.5hr drive from you.

I havent had quail for very long and one has finally started to lay eggs just the other day, im very excited!

I know this thread is very old but I am getting a lot of pure whites at the moment. Im currently in the process of widening the blood lines before I close the colony and breed for size. Happy to swap a few if your still looking.

You should try and get a few "Texas A&M Whites". They are great birds. I bet someone in Australia has imported them at this point.

I know that everything in Texas is meant to be bigger ;-) but Im in the tropics with 38ºc days and 99% humidity. Not sure the texans would survive so I'm breading for the area. Also, my birds are pure white with no little black marks like the A & M. Happy to swap for other whites. My average weight at the moment with 290 grams dressed down about 75% so little way to go with the size. I have bread them from the Italian line so they will end up around 360 grams.

    Hi Kellen,

Australia has strong quarantine laws (unless you're a multi-national corporation) so it's unlikely that, without spending an absolute fortune, you'd get any birds from the US in.

Baker......you sound like you have good big quail. Do you come to Brisbane often? Do you sell fertile eggs?

Hi Gary, I'm not is Brisbane much but as soon as I hit an average of 270 grams dressed I'll be ready to share. :-) Im not sure it read correctly above, apart from bread instead of breed, Im getting 290 grams whole, and about 220 grams dressed. There is a guy in the hunter valley that gets up to 400 grams but I don't think a quail of that size could handle the heat up here....

    Hi,

I'd certainly be interested when you decide to share your bloodlines. I'm always looking for good meat outcrosses.
