At the moment I am feeding my quail chicks turkey starter and meat meal, a ratio of 3 to 1 for the first 6 weeks, then culling.
My adult quail I feed layer mash with meat meal, ratio 3 to 1.
I am interested in what everyone elses feeding regieme is and the reasons behind it.
I'm feeding my birds the same diet.
However l have heard that there is a product called game bird feed out there. It's available in Victoria. It has 3 separate mixes, from game bird starter, which is for newly hatched quail, through to game bird breeder.
Has anybody out there tried it yet?
If so what are your opinions on the product? I would be very grateful if people would let me know what they think of the food, what sort of cost etc etc.
Looking forward to some comments!

Im feeding my quails either turkey starter (22% protien) or pullet starter (20% protein). I am also providing the birds with millet seeds to eat, and on occasions spinach leaves to nibble on.
I am unable to get any sort of meal from my local produce place so im not increasing their protein input.
Cheers!

"Be excellent to each other"
Hi,
I visited a quail breeder this morning and encountered a sight to make the hear of any old BSF grower glad. His quail were eating BSF larvae like there was no tomorrow.
He reports a saving on purchased feed as a consequence of making the larvae available to his birds.
Chopping the larvae up a bit might be a way to entice smaller birds to get into the larvae at a younger age. Try mixing them with a bit of duckweed.
