Had a few adjustments that I had to made. I'm the proud father of some baby Talapia. These I hope to grow out to have my own breeding set to make my own fry. Felt this was the best long term option for me. It will take some time for the fish to mature.
I will plan to place them in my 300 gallon system once I get that built out over the coming year. I get to learn how to fiberglass all over again.
Not the type to give up, going to stock this system with some gold fish.
Just have the goldfish in a 10 gallon tank to make sure they are not sick. I've added salt to the water and seeing what happens.
My duck weed growing in my rain barrel is starting to green up and reproduce. I have the gravel, mostly letting mother nature natural wash with rain water as it sits in a pile LOL.
Most of my seedlings have started. I think I'm going to run down to the hydro store and get some 3" coco cups pots. My seaweed based plant food is also in on order.
Might also do a couple earth boxes with my extra seedlings. A way to compare. Also great way to reuse the water from my fish tanks.
Would have had lot more done but my basset hound was fixed on may 4th, and had a couple issues after that. She is doing well and with a face like this, how can't you not love her! She took all my attention. Hope to have some photo's in the coming week.
Looks good. Just keep an eye on white zip ties. They break down in sunlight. The black ones last longer.
Looking good!
Finally got everything complete on my system.
Auto siphon works perfect on first go, did not have to play with it at all. does not look pretty but sure does the job. takes about 28 to 30 mins to fill, and less then 2 mins to drain.
i will be placing my plants in the system in the coming days. My gold fish will also be making the move in a week. I will keep the plants going with liq seaweed plant food, and give the sediment time to settle out.
Some images attached.
I have it all planted, figured I would give you a few photo's of the GB. Also couple shots of the extra tanks. One that I'm currently raising my Talipia breeding pairs.
I have dropped the level in the grow tank to 350L with 7 gold fish. When I add my strawberry towers and duckweed barrels I may increase the water. I will add 7 more gold fish in a few more weeks.
PH is still higher then I like, but still slowly dropping. Might add some peat to stocking hoses. Just dig a hole in my grow bed and leave them.
With all the rain we have been getting I have been using that to help with the water changes. Starting to see Nitrites and Nitrates in the system. Amo levels are still low, I sure having 500L of water helped that.
I'm going to add a couple grow beds using 4" pvc gutter down spout. Going to let the system get balance out more before I add the leg.
My Talipia breeding sets are growing so fast. I keeping the water temp around 84 degs with the best food I can find! They have doubled in size in a week.
