Currently my capsicums and egg plants are being infested with some sort of insect. There is scale on the stems, white sticky material under the leaves and small flies. I assume this is white Fly?
Has anyone had experience in treating these bugs?
I'm thinking of spraying Seasol on them as don't know what else is safe.
Thankz Rich

About 12 months ago there was an outbreak of white fly in the Top End.I took a sample of a leaf to DPI which contained a white "spider web" like material. They examined it under a m/scope and determined there was a "predator wasp" present - and told me the white fly should disappear in a few weeks..........and it did. suggest u contact QLD DPI.

White fly can be treated by spaying with water which has dish washing detergent added to it. Best to spay with a pressure gun & must be sprayed all over the plants, especially underside of the leaves. This MUST be done each 3 days to break the cycle of the whitefly, for at least 3 times.
2 pics added, the first is a preditor of Whitefly , Encarsia Wasp, the second is a pic of a Whitefly.

Don't spray dish washing detergent in AP. Fish don't like it. I use a mix of dipel and seasol.
