Considering it is 40,000L and only 20 fish and a few marron there shouldn't be too much nutrients.
That'll teach me to acquaint myself with the basic system details before I post.
With 20 fish and what's left of the marron......in 40,000 litres.....I wouldn't worry about anything.....including the algae. It will right itself eventually.
All the info on the UV lights specifically say that it does not do any major harm to the good bacteria which is supposedly concentrated in the filters and on rocks etc.
Researchers like Dr James Rakocy have been quoted as saying that up to 70% of the bacteria in a system is in the water......but, once again, with 40Kl of water it's not likely to be an issue.
