Hi Troy,
How about providing some details of your situation.
Are you on acreage? Are you planning on producing fish and plants for your own consumption....or for sale?
What are your tanks made from?
If we know more, we can start to provide some useful advice.

Sorry for being so vague. I live on 1 & quarter acres of sloping land and have cut a pad into the side of the block 5metres x 10 metres and have plans to cut another pad directly below to support trhe bio filter. i hope you can picture what i hope to acheive.,

Hi Tony, wow 3 x 9000ltr tanks.....
There's so many people on this forum from Brisbane or Qld that I feel like I need a passport or something just to be here. I't's almost like an old boys club.
What sort fish are you thinking of stocking and how many do you think you'll produce?

Troy,
You are most welcome to come and see my system. I am south of Brisbane about 40kms from the CBD towards Beaudesert. Give me a ring on 07 3200 0272.
I am sure you could go see Gary's
Nick,.... PM him I am sure he will be willing to help.
That is all I can think of right now....but that is a good start.
It would be most helpful if every member went to their User CP and put their location into their details. It would be particularly helpful to other members in this instance.

Troy,
I would take advice from others on this, but, if i understand what you have said above, I reckon you Should have the tanks on the pad BELOW the biofilters/Grow beds. The reverse of your current plans. Save you a lot of pumping. The water from the grow beds can flow back into the tanks via gravity.
Anyone else?

That makes sense. The water can then run back from the grow beds by gravity to the fish tank. Saves the cost of one pump.

I agree, this is what I've settled on. Get the base of the grow bed to be just above the top of the water level in the tank.

Hi Troy,
I'm curious about your choice of Yellowbelly (Golden Perch). They are not without their difficulties for small-scale Aquaponicists.
