The house I am renting has heaps of room underneath and an alright back yard that is of a NNE aspect. So i get a fair bit of sun.

I dont want to grow under the house since I will need lights and that means $$s

So If i had my fish under the house but my beds outside, could I have the piping running out to the beds? And if so, does this mean I need two pumps, or if the submersible can do it? What is head in terms of pumps?

a lot of sump/utility pumps have head ratings to 25 ft which is close to 8 meters. The higher a pump has to pump the slower its lph or gph and the more power it consumes. It can be done but you might be trading lighting $$$ for pumping $$$.
