Hi,
Square foot gardening is the brainchild of American Mel Bartholomew. You can learn more about it at....
http://www.squarefootgardening.com/
So, what's this all got to do with Aquaponics?
Well, at the heart of Square Food Gardening (SFG) is the innovative planting arrangement....where a garden is divided up into square foot plots with a view to maximising the number of plants of different types that can be grown in a particular space.
This concept of the planting grid is as relevant to Aquaponic grow beds as much as it is to any other gardening system......particularly given than plants do not have to compete with each for their fair share of water and nutrients.
We found that the most cost effective way to make a planting grid is to use venetian blind cord. It's slightly elastic so it remains taut.
