Beeso, What do you have as a fish tank and how many and what kind of fish do you have ? By the look of the photo of your grow bed your system has been going for a while ?
I am guessing that you have a low cost system ?
Can you give me a few ideas as to how I might get started without spending the earth.

300L tank i got from work that is used for pickling hams, i have silver perch, redclaw, goldfish and guppies. the only thing i didn't scam or get second hand was the pumps and the joiners, make mates with a plumber and get old pipes and offcuts

I think that is what I need to do, get some old stuff from somewhere and just get started. What veggies have you successfully grown Beeso ?

Have you been able to grow tomatoes through winter?

Beeso, Is there a particular variety of tomato that you find grows and yields best ?

Beezo, I have had the best run with "Gross Lisse" and "Beef Steak" They just keep on bearing. I have two bushes of those "Black Russian" tomatoes, they are really nice to eat but do not bear as much fruit as the main two varieties.

I understand, I am a bit of an experimenter myself and it gets me into a bit of trouble at times, but it is so much fun and a great way to learn.
The cold snap has been a real difficulty. Even if I had a solar type heater it would have been no good over the last few days anyway. High winds, low temps and cloud cover.
I feel electric heaters are necessary as a backup to solar anyway.
