Hi Zane,
I found difficulty with cucumber initally. I found that the male and female flowers were not being cross pollinated. Initally I did it by hand with a cotton bud and I had fruit set immediately.
I now have a bee hive and no longer need to do the job by hand.
Perhaps this could be the problem in your area, lack of bees.

Hi Murray,

I do have bees around in summer, I had to avoid them in fact, so there shouldn't be too much trouble with it, I think part of the problem may have been the fact that I had my plant in the open sun and Canberra sun can kill anything if it gets hot enough, maybe it just got too hot. But I tell you what, the growth rate of the plant in full sun pre-flower was amazing, I was away in Melbourne for one weekend and when I got back it grew at least 5 cms in that two days time.
