Hello all,I was just reading a thread about the suitability of using those 500 litre rainwater tanks from bunning's,I understand that there are many different types of plastic, and the story i am about to relay wont really clear anything up but has it's merit. As a butcher by trade i have had a bit to do with safe food practices and equally as much dealings with our old friends the health inspector,on this particular day we had a visit by the healthy, all was routine until he saw the 200 odd legs of pork for our xmas hams soaking in a nice neat row of brand new green wheelie bins, being green wheelie bins and not an accredited food safe vessel all of the hams had to be tossed out under his watchfull eye and all the bins had to be removed from the premise.
Quite a costly mistake especially when the green wheelie bins had to be replaced with white (OPAQUE)wheelie bins and all was then OK.Maybee a call to the local health authority could shed some light on this subject of suitable plastics.
