Any one used Black Bream for Aquaponics / Aquaculture?
Also are there issues with catching wild fish and growing them in an aquaponics set up?
Thanks everyone for the great info available here.
It has been very helpfull as I set up.

Freo Tafe sell Bream occasionally, I have 100 of them left in my AP in Kalgoorlie.

Slow growing, cannibalistic when hungry, but hardy aparently.

You CAN NOT catch fingerlings from the wild - it is a massive fine if you are caught. The putting of wild fish into AP systems is generally not a problem, but be aware of disease and parasites etc. Wild caught fish (yabbies marron fish etc) need to be quarantined for a couple of weeks to make sure they are ok.

Bream are a very sociable fish, the Trout all swim around in circles, the Perch sit in one corner hiding, and the Bream swim all around the tank, teasing the Trout. I like the Bream, but a fair bit of research has been done, and they are not a suitable commercial aquaculture fish. I am happy to take 3 years to grow them out :)

Thanks.
3 year grow out seem a bit silly for me when there are good supplies in the river about 200m away.
Thanks for the info...
I may stick a few in and try let them get up a good size.
