I was about to move a few more Tilapia from the pond to the new 1000 litre system when I noticed some tiny creatures moving in the pond. At first I thought they were shrimp or some kind of one celled organism... they were so tiny! When I switched off the pump and bubbler to get a better look I was amazed to see hundreds of microscopic transparent fish in the pond.
I got the small net ready to get them into a bucket and save them from being gobbled up when they took off faster than any fish I have ever seen!
Another reason to fear Tilapia in the waterways! Those small fry are so fast I could never catch them in a net. I don't know which fish is the mother as well so I am progressively taking out a Tilapia every now and then and moving them to the tank.
Unfortunately, I still haven't got a glass tank to breed the Tilapia so probably most of this month's litter will be eaten by the big Koi in my pond.
