no pump required conects dirctly onto the laundry tap for the washer machine, standard tap fitting.

have had it running now there is alot of waste water that is not good!! 2lts of waste to 1 lt of pure water. so waste water is going to be high

Mate, that looks like a very nice filtration system, but I don't think it is Reverse osmosis. RO usually operates at at least 3000 psi and they cost a lot more that the price of that one.
It looks like it will do a fairly good job.
Why do you want to filter the water for your fish to that level anyway ?
Is your water supply particularly bad ?

sorry to say murray it is a RO filter as thats why there is 2 red pipes for the waste.

Murray, thats what I though as well, but dj's response made me do some googling

Aparently low pressure reverse osmosis is here.

Hi Outback Ozz,
Yes, I have done a bit of gogling as well, and the ole djs-sa may be onto something here ..:p. It is very interesting.
I think I might risk a hundred and get one.. It has got me intrigued. I use dam water a lot in the house for the laundry toilet etc and in my AP systems. So it might be a good thing to provide additional water from the dam for the kitchen sink use.
I assume there will be replacement filters avbl

According to what I have read, the low pressure versions are not too good at dealing with salts.

Is that your impression ?

The 100 dollar one is not RO. Its a 5 stage cartridge system.

RO units are terribly slow at making water though.

Your right about the salts - thats why seawater RO units are high pressure. Pretty much all the household water units are doing is acting as a very very fine filter. Like really fine. Its not really doing much salt reduction.

i'm going to run mine mainly for my home brew and inside tank etc. etc.
not for the barra, as the waste water is about 60% which i will plumb into a holding tank to use on my garden and lawns
