As part of our Marine studies courses at my school Orara High we have just set up our 21000 litre concrete block (cinderblock to the septics out there)tank 6m * 5m *.7m deep with a 200litre biofilter filled with oyster shells for media.
Our first 200 silver perch were delivered Wednesday arvo from Calvin and Lisa Terry (Terraquatic Mulquinneys Road Braunstone, NSW 2460 Phone: (02) 6649 3528. near Grafton )
At the moment the fingerlings are in a 500l holding tank (im afraid of putting them in the big tank until they get bigger) Haven't got our hydro tray operational as yet but will connect this next week. i hope all goes well, i'll keep our progress posted.

Very Cool, hope it turns out well. My daughters elementary school is in the process of building a greenhouse so I'll be curious what they decide to do in it. Keep up the good work and get us pictures if you can.

Hi Loose Cannon,
I have been to your school and seen the large concerte tank you have there. About a year ago I spent time with one of the teachers, Gavin Willis if I remember his name correctly.
Very nice school farm at Orara and having that large tank will allow you to ultimately have an excellent Aquaponics system.
I have just delivered FG grow beds and equipment to Coffs High down at Harbour Drive. They also have a good farm area. 3 acres right in town....amazing.
Keep us posted....It is really great to see schools getting involved in Aquaponics.

hi murray
since you visited. we had a few problems with the tank, we patched the leaks we could see in the walls, tested it but it still leaked. We ended up rendering the walls and applying a pond sealing membrane to the walls and to the expansion joint in the slab. It is holding though we will see how it goes. Ill post some photo next week.
