Hi,
Here's photo of tonight's dinner.
We grew the chicken, the lettuce and the tomato. The quail eggs arrived courtesy of our new quail and, since they were laid after the birds got here, I'm claiming them, too.
These days, we regularly eat meals where two out of three of the key ingredients are produced on Creek Street Micro Farm......and, as MeatLoaf periodically reminds us,....."Two Out of Three Ain't Bad."

I really enjoy cooked Meatloaf..but (even better) I just love large slabs of it cold the following day on sandwiches.

Hi Shane
We have again reached the really great part of growing our own food.
Just came up from the poultry yard and am very happy to announce that all the chooks raised for meat over the past 8 weeks are due to go into the freezer this weekend. They have grown so fast, and are very healthy.
The 2 we processed last weekend were extemely tasty. The meat was firmer than usual and only minute traces of fat in the vent area. Organic feed all the way from here on.
We had 8 young ducks (about 16 weeks) given to us last week, they will get to walk around a bit longer, still have duck breasts and legs in the freezer.
The quail are off the lay at the moment but they will come back in the next few weeks once the days get a bit longer. We had a very happy vietnamese pharmacist that we were giving all the eggs to each week, until the quail decided they needed a rest. Apparently quail eggs are very expensive in the asian shops.

Because...from another thread,
Hi Shane,
The new system is progressing slowly. The tank, Nexus filter and sump tank have all made their way into the shed. I'll probably start to hook it all up this coming weekend.
LOL..he needs to spend a bit of time in the shed:biggrin:
Cheers,
Shane.

Hi Shane
Oh dear! oh dear! he will just have to brave the cold and get out of bed a little earlier.
Trouble is the weekends just seem to fly past, always lots to do and not much time. But we definately have to take care of the animal business first.
I think the rush to finish the new system may be because Paul is due back from SA next weekend and a heap of new Jades may be headed his way. Of course the precise details are secret mens business.

Jan,
Secret men's business, for us men, means one of two things one we are not sure so we are unable to give the details or two we don't want to tell our wives because the will get angry...LOL
